Bruce Nearing spear-headed the Ambulance for years. He was called Chief of Police and his hours were spent in police and ambulance work. Bruce acquired our first radio which was a State Police radio. We would call the State Police barracks and explain the situation and they, in turn, would call the hospital, by telephone, to tell them what we had. Bruce was a friend to everyone The Board of Directors started the award to recognize a volunteer who goes beyond what is routine in the normal operation of the ambulance. The award recipient receives a plaque, their name is added to the plaque at ambulance headquarters, and they receive a $100.00 Savings Bond. A short letter, stating who and why you are nominating someone, is all it takes. It must go to a member or past member of the Association. Please send your recommendation letter to the dinner committee and they will make the final decision. (Description contributed by Andy Armstrong). |
